Work Pass

I am already working in Singapore holding a valid Work Pass with another employer. Do I still need to provide my supporting documents to Ministry of Manpower (MOM) for the application filed by the new employer?

When you change employer, your application will be considered based on its merits and under the current prevailing guidelines. The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) will also request for you to submit verification proof of your qualification even though this was not requested by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) previously.

How do I submit my Work pass application if I misplaced my educational certificate?

You must get a replacement certificate from the awarding body or institution or alternatively, you can upload a verification proof from a background screening company.

How long will my pass be valid?

The duration of the pass (upon issuance of the pass) is as follows:

  • First-time candidates: up to 24 months
  • Renewals: up to 36 months (for EP and S Pass) / 24 months (for Work Permit)

The duration of the pass granted is at the discretion of the Authority.

Is there a minimum requirement on the passport validity for processing the pass application?

Your passport must be valid for at least 7 months at the point of application. Note that if you are granted a S Pass or Work Permit, the pass duration will only be issued up to 1 month before the expiry date of the passport hence we encourage that your passport validity is sufficient to cover the duration of the pass applied for.

Am I eligible to sponsor my family’s passes?

EP and S Pass holders are eligible to sponsor for the family’s passes if the following conditions are met:

  • Earn a fixed monthly salary S$6,000 and above.
  • Parents may be sponsored for those earning at least S$12,000 and above.

Work Permit holders are not eligible to sponsor passes for family.

Can I enter Singapore while the pass is being processed by the Authority?

Yes, except for Work Permit holders (non-Malaysian). However, this is not encouraged as the Authority will not grant any extension to your stay if you are in Singapore with a visit pass that will expire before the pass is issued.

Do I need to leave Singapore if my pass is approved while I am in Singapore as a visitor?

No. You don’t have to leave the country as long as your visit pass is valid at the point of the pass issuance.

Permanent Residence (PR)

Do I need an employer's sponsorship to apply for Singapore PR?

Employer sponsorship is not required to apply for Singapore Permanent Residency, as the application is personal and not tied to any company. However, company information is still needed for form completion.

Can I apply for Singapore PR for my parent(s) without a birth certificate?

You will need to produce other documentary evidence to prove the relationship between you and your parent(s) if you are unable to produce a birth certificate when applying for Singapore PR for your parents.

Can I apply for Singapore PR if my passport is expiring?

As part of the requirements to apply for Singapore PR, your passport will need to be valid for at least 6 months. If you do not have a valid passport or have a passport with validity of less than 6 months at the point of application, the application will be rejected.

Can I apply for Singapore PR immediately after working here?

From a professional standpoint, we typically advise clients to apply for Singapore PR after having resided in the country for at least 1.5 years. This allows individuals to establish stronger ties to the local community and demonstrate a commitment to living and working in Singapore, which can enhance the likelihood of a successful PR application.
